What Better Than Baseline is

Better Than Baseline is an app — two structured training programs built by a physical therapist, not a generic workout generator.

Strength Track is for active adults who want to get stronger with a wave-based periodization programming plan: 75–90 minute sessions, three days a week in the gym, two days out of the gym, with room to choose your own accessory work and conditioning.

Function Track is built around the movements that actually matter as you age — power, balance, and functional strength — designed to keep you capable, not just active.

Pick the one that matches where you're at.

About

I've spent close to fourteen years in a CrossFit gym, and about a third of that as a physical therapist. For a long time I treated those as two different parts of my life — one where I chased fitness, one where I studied it. Better Than Baseline is what happens when I stopped separating them.

Here's the question that actually started this: why does the programming that builds the most capable, resilient people I know keep getting written off as reckless — while the guidelines meant to protect people rarely ask them to get strong enough to matter? CrossFit taught me constantly varied, functional movement at high intensity. My doctorate in physical therapy, being a clinical faculty at the University of Arizona, taught me the discipline that comes from the ACSM guidelines — the evidence, the caution, the respect for how a body actually adapts and breaks down. Neither side had the full picture. Both were right about something the other one missed.

So I built the thing I wished existed: a program audited line by line against CrossFit's own official training standards, then checked again against ACSM's guidelines for safe, evidence-based load and progression. Not a compromise between the two. A synthesis of them.

Better Than Baseline was built to reach more people than anyone can see in a clinic — a program that expects you to work, and is careful about how.

75 to 90 minutes, three days a week. That's what I'm asking you to give yourself. Not because it's easy. Because it's worth prioritizing.
